Baseado no livro de Peter Carey, o filme conta a história do lendário fora da lei australiano Ned Kelly. Criado em uma família irlandesa e rebelde, que já enfrentava a polícia local, ele conhece Harry Power, um guarda florestal com pouca consideração pela autoridade colonial, no território selvagem onde trabalha. Sob influência de Power, Kelly se lança em uma delicada vida de crimes. Com o tempo, ele forma uma gangue, que a a ser exaltada por colonos australianos. Seleção do Festival de Toronto e da Mostra de Cinema de São Paulo, em 2019.
